“Need Base India Rainbow Home, Bengaluru
‘Girl’s first step to empowerment’We entered the classroom of Need Base India Rainbow Home, Bengaluru to find a group of young girls of various age-groups, curious of our presence. They greeted us ‘Good Afternoon’ in sync but they eyes were constantly staring at the punching bags we were carrying. Ms. Krystal Joseph started the session with her introduction followed by a story. She mentioned about her first few weeks of her physical Israeli Military Krav Maga Self Defense training (push-ups) and how tough it was. With her consistency & push from her father Specialist Guruji Franklin Joseph, she not only managed to do 40 push-up but also inspire others with this story.
We were requested to teach both in Kannada & English as most of the girls knew the local language. Then, we started training of Combat Science along with Krav Maga Israeli Military Krav Maga Self Defense tactics. The blackboard in the classroom was very helpful for the girls to take notes & the diagram we did helped better understand the concepts we were teaching. It is a interesting challenge teaching small girls as they get distracted very easily, so we had to incorporate games & questionnaire to keep their mind focused on the training.

The girls were giggling with excitement the minute they were able to release the grabs, which made us proud & joyous. The next team event was punching the bags which the girls were very eager to perform. The girls could not get enough of the joy of punching the bags, they kept sneaking back into the line just to get another shot at it.
We concluded the session with a group activity where we divided the girls into two groups – Group A & Group B. Group A was instructed to grab the hands of the Group B. Group B was instructed to release their grabs and once they were released, they switched sides and continued the game. At end of every session, to give respect to the nation as well as Krav Maga military background, we say ‘Jai Hind’ in sync.
